Im just a stand-in focused on making money chapter 2

Chapter 02
Chapter 02
*

After dinner, the stylist finished my look, and we headed to the hotel for the dinner party.
It was someone’s birthday, but that didn’t matter to me.
Whenever I was by Han Zhi’s side at events, my only role was to be arm candy.
Not a glamorous title, but honestly, it was easy just stand straight, smile, and say nothing.
Han Zhi could be considerate at times; knowing my feet hurt in heels, he’d let me sit most of the time except for entrances and exits.
No small talk, no blocking drinks, just nibbling on snacks and listening to gossip.
Sometimes, I even caught some juicy news!
Like this time, I heard a rumor about Han Zhi.
“I heard President Han’s first love is coming back.”
I was surprised:
“He had a first love?”
“Yeah! Back in Yucheng, their relationship was the talk of the town. Everyone thought they’d get married, but they broke up suddenly for some reason.”
Wow, so Han Zhi was once a romantic?
I thought he was just a cold-hearted capitalist.
“Even after the breakup, it’s obvious he still cares about her. Why else would he date so many girls who look like her?”
My mouth twitched.
Seriously? Who pines for someone by dating their lookalikes?
But then again, the rich do think differently...
Maybe that’s why Han Zhi keeps me around even though I annoy him.
I kept my thoughts to myself and continued eavesdropping.
Then I heard my name.
“So Lin Qing is getting kicked to the curb, right?”
“Of course! The real deal is back who needs a stand-in?”
My ears perked up.
Does this mean... breakup compensation? An apartment...?
“Is it for real?”
Just then, Han Zhi’s voice called out nearby, “Lin Qing.”
The two gossipers froze when they saw me standing behind them.
I waved at Han Zhi, “Just a sec.”
Then I turned to the shocked girls, rubbing my fingers together with a sly grin, “You wouldn’t want Han Zhi to hear about this, would you?”
“...That’s blackmail!”
I sighed dramatically, “Don’t be so harsh. It’s just a mutually beneficial transaction. If you don’t want to, I won’t force you.”
One gritted her teeth, “Aren’t you afraid we’ll tell Han Zhi?”
I shrugged, “Go ahead. I’ll tell him too.”
They glared, “Shameless!”
I shrugged again, “So what?”
In the end, they reluctantly transferred me 20,000 yuan.
Honestly, I only wanted a few hundred at first.
Turns out you have to think big.
If I can’t get money from Han Zhi, I’ll get it from his circle!
